Event: Getting ready to go home
Karl (my classmate): Do you have an extra paper bag or plastic bag?
Me: Sorry, but I have only one for my things.
Karl: Hmm… My bag’s space is not enough for my books and for these two empty
mineral bottles.
Me: What are the empty bottles for?
Karl (while showing me the bottles): Nothing. It’s just that they have my birth date
printed on it!
Me: Isn’t that the manufacture or expiry date or something?
Karl: I guess…
Me: So?
Karl (smiling): It has my birthday on it! (Pause) Simple things make me happy!
In the end I let him use my plastic bag. Besides I have only three books to carry.
Karl: Thanks for letting me use your plastic bag.
Me: No prob! Simple things make me happy too! (smile)
