Children are more excited about the holidays because they are always the center of the holidays. Maybe because of the time they spent with our families and having the chance to see our different relatives and of course the gifts they receive on Christmas day. But adults are also as excited as the kids in looking forward for the holidays. The Christmas break will give us the chance to be at home relaxing and not thinking of work. We also get excited about friends and relatives’ holiday reunions. We also can’t wait to see how the kids’ react when they open their gifts on Christmas Day. As a matter of fact, many of us have already shopped for gifts for the kids as early as November.

Every year, one of my best buddies would come home with me and celebrate with my family the holidays. Her parents and family lives abroad and she is the only one left here in the country. But this Christmas, she will not join us because she is spending the holidays in Italy. My friend and her parents have to meet in Italy for the holidays. It would be the first time to see each other since her parents left. I received a call from her yesterday she was excited to tell me that her immigration problem was solved and that she will be waiting for her US Visa when she gets home from Italy. Finally, she will be with her real family from then on. But I can’t help but to start to miss her already.

“The setting sun, and music at the close, As the last taste of sweets, is sweetest last, Writ in remembrance more than things long past.”
- William Shakespeare
This photo was taken last summer. I was in a private beach resort when we saw some skim boarders. These are kids who glide on waters along the shore using a skim board. As contrast to surfing, skim boarding needs only the small waves along the shore to glide on and do some tricks. It looks easy but it’s not, yet it’s all fun. Maybe I’ll try skim boarding next summer.
